According to the agency, the case was initiated after the startup published promotional posts on social media. Inspectors determined that the wording in those advertisements was “exaggerated or misleading.”
A special commission of the Committee launched a case under the law “On advertising.” Based on its findings, the commission imposed a financial penalty on 1Fit.
In addition, the startup was ordered to correct the violations and prevent similar practices in the future. The agency reminded that, if the company disagrees with the decision, it has the right to appeal before the appellate council or through the courts.
This is not the first time the Competition Committee has reported advertising violations. In August, it announced findings against seven dietary supplements – Stop Diabet, Effect Herbals, Fito Diabetic, Biomalham, Gemopro, Gemmoroid Plus, and Visu Caps – which made unsubstantiated claims about their supposed therapeutic effects.
In July, the watchdog also reported cases involving 17 companies for breaching advertising law. These included branches of Infinbank, Tenge Bank, and Davr Bank, as well as several travel agencies.
