All roads in Uzbekistan to be divided into categories based on safety for pedestrians and drivers

The President signed a resolution “On measures to ensure reliable human safety on roads and drastically reduce deaths”.
In order to assess the effective organization of traffic in the regions and strengthen the responsibility of local authorities in this regard, from July 1, 2022, the practice of maintaining the index “Safe Road” in all districts (cities) of the country.
It is noted that:
• the state of compliance with the road infrastructure and traffic rules within the index will be assessed by special commissions on a quarterly basis on 29 indicators;
• districts (cities) will be divided into “green”, “yellow” and “red” categories on the basis of the index on the state of road safety;
• the task of maintaining the index will be assigned to traffic safety units.
Within two months, the Cabinet of Ministers will ensure the development and approval of the methodology for conducting the index, involving leading scientific organizations, scientists and experts.
