Uzbekistan intends to attract $ 500 million foreign investment to develop ICT
The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to attract $ 500 million foreign investment in 2019 to develop information and communications technology in Uzbekistan, the press service of the President reports.
Besides, the volume of investments should be brought up to $ 200 million by the end of 2018.
It should be reminded that Shavkat Mirziyoyev criticized the low quality of telephone and internet services at a recent meeting on Sept. 19. “The tasks set for the development of information technologies and communications sphere, determined at the beginning of the year, have not been fully realized. I am completely dissatisfied with the current state of investments flow to the field,” the President said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave instructions to improve the quality and connection speed of the Internet and to completely replace communication networks with fiber-optic lines.
