President of Uzbekistan pays a state visit to India next week

Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan, will pay a state visit to India next week, during which a number of agreements in political and economic spheres will be signed, Farhod Arziyev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to India said.
According to Mr. Arziyev’s statement, expectations from the Uzbek leader’s state visit to the Republic of India are high. “The statistics speak for themselves, the recent trends of political dialogue, trade and economic interactions between the two countries have been very dynamic,” Mr. Ambassador said.
It is expected that Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit will further deepen the strategic partnership between India and Uzbekistan and increase cooperation in education, culture, tourism and numerous other sectors.
“A number of important accords regarding political, economic and humanitarian matters will be signed. The visit will also contribute to increasing our people-to-people contacts and establishing partnerships between our regions and cities,” Mr. Arziyev added.
He informed that two partnership agreements between Gujarat and Andijan and another between Samalkha and Agra are expected to be inked during the visit.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev will be accompanied by senior delegation members and is scheduled to meet Ram Nath Kovind, his Indian counterpart, and Prime Minister Modi, as well as other Indian government officials.
It is worth noting that in the last six months, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and India has reached $ 135 million and this figure is expected to escalate following the Uzbek President’s visit.
