Vladimir Putin to visit Uzbekistan on October 18-19
Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Uzbekistan on October 18-19, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Trade reports.
“On October 18-19 this year, Tashkent will host a meeting of Uzbek and Russian heads of state. Within the framework of the Russian president’s official visit, the first Uzbek-Russian forum of interregional cooperation will be held,” the Ministry said.
Russia is one of the leading trade and economic partners of Uzbekistan. Today, over 960 enterprises operate in Uzbekistan with the participation of Russian business circles’ investments, and according to the forecast of experts of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, their number will exceed 1,000 by the end of the year.
It should be reminded that Uzbekistan has also more than 560 enterprises actively operating in Russia.
Uzbekistan is on the fourth place in terms of commodity turnover with Russia among the CIS countries. As of December 2017, it increased by 33.9% and amounted to $ 3.6 billion.
In January-February this year, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Russia increased by 50.2% and reached almost $ 600 million. Russia's exports grew by 59.7%, and imports by 28.1%. At the same time, the total volume of investments from Russia to Uzbekistan exceeded $ 8.5 billion.
