Car hits and kills three women heading to the cotton field
Early in the morning on Sept. 29, an accident occurred on the M-37 highway passing through Ishtikhan district of Samarkand region.
A Damas, coming from Bukhara on the M-37 highway, struck four women, who were heading to the field to pick cotton. According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the car fell asleep while driving and hit the women, killing three of them on the spot.
A Kun.uz correspondent, asking the eyewitnesses of the accident, learned the identity of the victims. According to the source, one of the women died lived in Yangiabad Street. She was a pensioner, born in 1961, and had three children. Another victim, temporarily unemployed, lived in Pakhtakor Street. She was born in 1972 and was mother of 3 children. The third woman killed, born in 1991, was a local of Osuda Street. She was on the dole and had 1 child.
Their funerals were held by nightfall on the same day.
Durdona Tirkasheva, who was born in 1999 and was recently married, suffered terrible injuries in the incident. She was taken to the Department of Rehabilitation of the central hospital in Ishtikhan district.
Doctor Kilichboy Egamkulov says her condition is critical.
Durdona Tirkasheva’s uncle stated that none of the relatives of the perpetrator came to see whether or not she was alive.
Ishtikhan district police department launched a criminal case. Investigative actions are underway.
