Relatives of Aktobe victims demand 2.4 billion tenge compensation
Citizens of Uzbekistan, who have lost their sons and grandchildren in a burned-out bus in Aktobe, are demanding 150 million tenge for each deceased relative. Such claims to defendants brought forward 16 victims, reports Kazakhstan Today with reference to KTK news.
The Uzbek side is convinced that all six suspects are to blame for the death of 52 passengers - these are the three drivers who survived the incident, the director and mechanic of the fleet, and the runaway owner of the ill-fated bus.
In addition, the victims demanded the most severe punishment for the defendants of the case. According to lawyers, 22 more people are expected to voice their claims against them.
The defendants, however, continue to insist on their innocence.
It is worth noting that the claimants refused to attend the trial due to material difficulties. They are participating in court-meetings online.
It should be reminded that on January 18, 2018 the bus caught fire in Irgiz district of Aktobe region of the Republic of Kazakhstan, killing 52 and injuring 5 people. All the victims were Uzbek citizens on their way to the city of Kazan in Russia. The bus owner did not have a license for transportation, and the vehicle had not been inspected for at least 3 years.
