Population of Uzbekistan exceeds 33 million people

The resident population of the Republic of Uzbekistan amounted to 33,085 million people as of Oct. 1, 2018. This shows a 1.3% increase compared to the same period last year.
According to the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics, the urban population of the country was 16,728 million people (50.6%) and the rural population was 16,357 million (49.4%) on Oct. 1 of the current year.
Population of Uzbekistan increased by 428.5 thousand people in January-September 2018. The number of live births was 553.4 thousand and the number of deaths was 112.6 thousand people.
196 thousand marriages and 23.8 thousand divorces registered by Registry Offices in the first 9 months of 2018.
Analysis by regions of the republic showed that as of October 1, 2018, the largest population was observed in Samarkand (3,777 million people) and Fergana (3,665 million people) regions respectively, while the smallest population recorded in Syrdarya (825,8 thousand people) and Navoi (969,7 thousand people) regions.
