Uzbekistan march on as medal wave continues at Buenos Aires 2018

Argentina's 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games are going on. Umidjon Jalolov, who defended the honor of our country in freestyle wrestling, secured a yellow metal in the contest.

Umidjon overcame representatives of the South African Republic and Turkey during the competition in weight category up to 48kg. In the final, he wrestled with Giorgi Gegelashvili from Georgia and won a gold medal with a score of 8:2.

Muhammadrasul Rakhimov, who represented Uzbekistan in the weight class up to 80 kg, won a bronze medal. Our compatriot defeated a New Zealand representative during the tournament. In the second fight, he lost to the Russian wrestler. He won the Canadian sportsman in the battle for the bronze medal and became a prizewinner.

It was the 12th medal of the Uzbek sports delegation in the Argentine Olympics. At the moment, our sportsmen have already bagged 4 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze medals. 1 gold and 1 bronze medals are owned in the mixed competitions. Thus and so, Uzbekistan has updated its record for medals in the Youth Olympic Games.
