Photo report from Buenos Aires: III Summer Youth Olympic Games
Tomorrow morning, on Oct. 7, the opening ceremony of the Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018 will take place in the capital of Argentina. During the period of Oct. 6-18, members of sports delegations will be hosted in the specially created Olympic village.
Accompanying the Uzbek delegation, Information service staff of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan have prepared a photo report from the Olympic village.
Buenos Aires 2018 will mark the first time that an Olympic event has had an equal number of women and men athletes. There will be 1,999 women and 1,999 men competing in the 32 sports between 6 to 18 October.
The Games will truly be a celebration of sport throughout the city. Across four different parks there will be: 286 competition sessions, 468 sport initiation sessions, cultural and educational activities for the general public and athletes, 241 medal events, 1,250 medals distributed and more than 300 hours of live competition broadcast.
At the event, 37 athletes will represent Uzbekistan in 16 kinds of sports. Youngest of them is Indira Ulmasova, who is only 14.
For information, prior to that Uzbekistan took part in the Summer Youth Olympic Games 2010 in Singapore and Summer Youth Olympic Games 2014 in Nanjing.
Uzbek athletes competed in 11 sports in Singapore: judo, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, table tennis weightlifting, athletics, taekwondo, boxing, swimming, wrestling, shooting and won 9 medals — 3 silver and 6 bronze.
In Nanjing, the delegation of Uzbekistan won 2 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals.
