Uzbekistan’s Summer Youth Olympic Games delegation welcomed at Tashkent International Airport
On Oct. 21, a delegation of Uzbek athletes, who participated in the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, returned to Tashkent. A salutatory meeting was organized at Tashkent International Airport named after Islam Karimov in honor of our delegation.
As stated on the official website of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, the event was attended by the Presidential Adviser Abdujabbor Abduvohidov, the President of the National Olympic Committee Umid Akhmadjanov, the Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Dilmurod Nabiyev, relatives of the athletes, fans and media representatives.
An Adviser to the President, Abdujabbor Abduvakhidov, delivered speech to congratulate the young athletes and their coaches who have successfully participated in the competition and thanked the award winners. Besides, Kumush Fayzullayeva and Umid Jalolov, silver medalists of the Olympic Games, talked in public and promised to take part efficiently in the next major competitions.
It is worth noting that on Oct. 6-18, 37 athletes from Uzbekistan participated in 16 kinds of sports at the third Summer Youth Olympic Games and won 16 medals (5 gold, 4 silver and 7 bronze) in total. The Uzbek delegation was ranked 13th among the participating countries by the quality of medals.
