On Oct. 16, the Turkmen delegation paid a working visit to Uzbekistan and met with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Rashid Meredov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, recalled his visit to Uzbekistan at the government meeting on 19 October, the Turkmen state news agency reported.

It was noted that Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent greetings to Gurbanguly Berdimukhamedow, once again confirming the assurance of Uzbekistan’s friendly relations with Turkmenistan. At the same time, special attention was paid to the implementation of agreements reached during the state visit of the Turkmen President to Uzbekistan in April 2018.

Bilateral consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs were held during the visit of the Turkmen delegation to Tashkent. Issues of further expansion of Turkmen-Uzbek dialogue in the political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres were discussed. Furthermore, the parties exchanged views on preparations for the Summit of Central Asian State Heads in 2019 in Tashkent, including the agenda of the meeting.

“In this regard, it has been noted that the comprehensive development of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation with neighboring countries is one of the priorities of Turkmen foreign policy and President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedow gladly stressed the strategic nature of cooperation with Uzbekistan on equal footing”, - the agency said.
