Kazakh Ambassador to Uzbekistan suspended from office
President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has signed a decree on the temporary dismissal of Erik Utembayev, ambassador to Uzbekistan, from his post, the Akorda website reported.
“In accordance with the decree of the Head of State, Utembaev Erik Myltykbayevich is temporarily suspended from executing the official duties of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Uzbekistan,” the message says.
Earlier, the official representative of the Agency for Civil Service Affairs and Anti-Corruption Janna Bastarova said that the National Bureau of Anti-Corruption is suspecting the Ambassador of embezzling budget funds.
