State Security Service of Uzbekistan detained distinguished leaders of terrorist organizations who fought in Syria

The State Security Service (SSS), together with the secret services of foreign countries, detained and returned several militants of Uzbek origin from Syria to Uzbekistan, Kun.uz correspondent reports.

They were the leaders and responsible persons of the international terrorist organizations “Katibatul Imam-al-Bukhariy” and “Katibatul Tawhid wa Jihad” acting in Syria and endangering the security of Uzbekistan.

The first detainee was the leader of the “Katibatul Imam-al Bukhariy” terrorist organization in Syria. He was born in 1984 in Surkhandarya region. In 2009-2010, he was a member of the underground cell "Jihadists" in Surkhandarya. In 2011, he left in transit through Russia and Turkey to Syria, where he underwent terrorist training.

The second person was responsible for funding the “Katibatul Imam-al Bukhariy” terrorist organization in Syria, hiring and transferring new members to it. He was born in 1985 in Andijan region. In 2014, he went to Syria to join his accessories.

Another citizen joined the “Katibatul Tavhid wa Jihad” organization in 2015 and was responsible for meeting new members in Turkey and transferring them to Syria. He was born in 1993 in Namangan region. In 2011, he left through Pakistan to Afghanistan and became a member of the terrorist organization "Union of Islamic Jihad", after passing the practice of subversive activities, participated in oppositions against government forces.

During their stay abroad, these citizens used fake documents and introduced themselves as Uyghurs.

In addition, the SSS officers returned another Uzbek citizen, who was also a member of the “Katibatul Tawhid wa Jihad” terrorist organization.

This person was actively involved in raising funds for the financial support of the “Katibatul Tawhid wa Jihad” terrorist organization, as well as recruiting new members and sending them to Syria. He was born in 1990 in Syrdarya region.

At present, criminal cases instituted against these persons in accordance with the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan. Investigations are being carried out.
