German Siemens to be involved in the implementation of the “Safe city” project in Samarkand
Uzbekistan plans to attract German Siemens in the realization of the “Safe city” project in Samarkand.
It was announced after the talks between the Minister for the Development of IT and Communications Shukhrat Sadikov and a delegation of the German company headed by the Vice-President Alexander Liberov.
The minister noted that the foundation of long-term cooperation between Uzbekistan and Siemens, which had been laid in the 1990s, is based on mutual trust and readiness for further productive partnership.
According to him, based on the results of studying international experience and working out the issue of implementing the “Safe city” project, it was decided to take into account Germany’s advanced practices in the realization of this initiative.
Within the framework of the trial project in Samarkand, by the end of 2018, the German company was offered to determine the scope of work and prepare calculations that will be reflected on the Agreement. After determining the cost of the project, it is planned to consider the possibility of its funding, including through direct investments.
The Uzbek side expressed its readiness to sign necessary documents and a roadmap in the course of the project, which is planned to be implemented within a year with the attraction of foreign direct investments.
