Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan to further strengthen ties

Today, November 16, a telephone conversation took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov.

At the beginning of the conversation, the head of our State cordially congratulated the President of the Kyrgyz Republic on his 60th birth anniversary, wishing him good health, well-being and new successes.

The sides noted with deep satisfaction the positive trend that has emerged recently in strengthening the warm ties of fraternity, the relations of centuries-old friendship and good-neighborliness between our countries.

An important event in the development of Uzbek-Kyrgyz multifaceted cooperation was the official visit of President S. Jeenbekov to Uzbekistan last December, which resulted in signing of significant agreements and accords to expand practical cooperation.

During the conversation, prospects for deepening partnerships, increasing mutual trade, strengthening cooperation in industry, energy, transport and agriculture sectors were considered.

The sides spoke for the full disclosure of the great potential of interregional cooperation.

The fruitful results of regular joint events between the border regions of the two countries were noted with deep satisfaction. In March of this year, the first meeting of the Council of Heads of the Border Regions of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan was held in Fergana.

Cultural and humanitarian exchange intensified. Last month, the Days of Culture and Art of the Kyrgyz Republic were successfully held in our country.

An exchange of views on topical issues of the regional and international agenda also took place.

The President of Kyrgyzstan expressed his sincere gratitude to the head of our state for warm congratulations and wishes.

At the end of the telephone conversation, the leaders of the states reaffirmed their firm determination to comprehensively develop mutually beneficial cooperation, strengthen friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan for the benefit of two fraternal peoples.
