Deputy Secretary-General of UN: “Uzbekistan pays great attention to the development of relations with neighboring countries”
On November 21, 2018, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Ilhomjon Nematov met with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Director General of the United Nations Office in Geneva Michael Møller, who arrived in our country to participate in the Asian Forum on Human Rights, which is to be held on November 22 in Samarkand.
Topical issues of interaction between Uzbekistan and the UN, the prospects for their development were discussed at the meeting. It was noted that profound political and economic transformations taking place in Uzbekistan will create new conditions for strengthening cooperation.
The UN representative welcomed the regional policy promoted by Uzbekistan. He stated that the republic attaches great importance to the development of political, trade-economic, transport-communication and cultural-humanitarian ties with neighboring countries. “In the modern world, this is the standard towards which one should strive and it will give the most tangible results,” said Michael Møller.
At the meeting, the parties also reviewed the practical aspects of the upcoming joint activities.
The Resident Coordinator of the UN, Permanent Representative of the UN Development Program in Uzbekistan Helena Fraser also took part in the conversation.
