President approves ratification of the SCO agreement on anti-terrorism exercises

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the law “On ratification of the agreement on the procedure for organizing and conducting joint anti-terrorism exercises by the SCO member states”.

The agreement was signed at a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO in Dushanbe on August 28, 2008, the lower house of the Senate of Uzbekistan adopted it in late November 2018 and approved on December 13.

Earlier, the Senate’s news service reported that the agreement would improve the practical skills of the exercise participants and the development of effective forms and methods for conducting joint anti-terrorism measures in the SCO space.

The SCO is an international organization founded in 2001 by the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. At the SCO summit in Astana on June 9, 2017, the leaders of the SCO member states signed an agreement on the admission of India and Pakistan to the organization. The headquarters of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure (RATS) is located in Tashkent.
