Russia to finance the creation of Russian schools in Uzbekistan
The government of the Russian Federation has promised to begin implementing a separate program “Russian School Abroad” in 2021. In the course of the country’s 22nd conference of compatriots held in Tashkent, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council on International Affairs Committee of the Federal Assembly Farit Mukhametshin declared that it is envisaged to allocate specific financial resources.
According to Mr. Mukhametshin, the affairs of compatriots are always discussed during the Governmental hour. Recently, the Council of Federation passed two laws relating to the activities of compatriots outside the Russian Federation.
“Following these meetings, the Upper Chamber insists on developing a mechanism for creating the concept of “Russian School Abroad” through making an addition to the Russian state program on foreign policy activities. This implies the allocation of specific financial resources to support Russian schools abroad. Besides, we received a positive response from the Russian government which promised to start implementing a separate program “Russian School Abroad” from 2021 as a state program,” he noted.
In particular, the Russian Deputy Chairman expressed hope that “Rossotrudnichestvo” (Russian federal government agency under the jurisdiction of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs) will play a leading role in the fulfillment of these programs, including in Uzbekistan.
Additionally, he recalled that within the framework of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Uzbekistan, over 80 rectors of Russian universities also arrived in the Republic and about a hundred agreements were signed between the sides on education.
