Primary school admissions for 2026–2027 academic year to open on June 20
Admissions for the first grade in Uzbekistan’s general secondary schools will officially begin on June 20, according to the Ministry of Preschool and School Education. For the upcoming school year, the country plans to welcome more than 795,000 children into the primary education system.
The enrollment process will be conducted in two distinct phases, maintaining the structure used in previous years.
The first phase, running from June 20 to July 31, focuses strictly on micro-districts. During this period, schools will accept applications exclusively for children residing within their designated local catchment areas.
The second phase will address applications outside these micro-districts, scheduled to take place from August 1 to August 15. During this stage, parents can apply to schools outside their residential area, with admission depending entirely on class capacities and available school resources.

In accordance with the Law on Education, children must be enrolled in the first grade during the calendar year they turn seven years old. Consequently, for the 2026–2027 academic year, eligible children must be born on or before December 31, 2019. Children who are six years old will have access to compulsory one-year school-readiness groups instead.
The ministry noted that the online registration and admission procedures will follow the administrative regulations approved by Government Resolution No. 295 on June 1, 2022.
Education officials advise parents to prepare all necessary documentation ahead of the launch date and to regularly monitor official government channels for further updates.
