Uzbekistan, China held political consultations between Foreign Ministries

Beijing hosted the 16th round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and the People’s Republic of China on Dec. 24, the press service of the Ministry reported.
The Uzbek delegation headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Dilshod Akhatov discussed with Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Zhang Hanhui the current state of bilateral relations and prospects for priority areas of cooperation within the framework of Shanghai Cooperation Organization as well as other international structures.
The sides thoroughly reviewed the implementation of the agreements reached during high-level summits, negotiations between government delegations, business circles and representatives of cultural-humanitarian spheres of the two countries.
Particular attention was paid to the agenda of joint events scheduled for 2019 with participation of heads of states, including within the framework of the second international forum “One Belt, One Road”.
Concluding the bilateral relations in trade-economic sphere in 2018, the sides noted with satisfaction their dynamic and mutually beneficial nature. In January-October, the trade turnover between the parties exceeded $5 billion, whereas in 2017 it took whole 12 months to reach that level.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the parties also considered other issues of mutual interest.
The delegation of Uzbekistan attended the sixth meeting of the Subcommittee on Security Cooperation of Uzbekistan – China Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee.
