"Parliament will be responsible for approving PM's candidacy" - President

 In his address to the parliament, the President spoke about the introduction of the procedure for approval of the members of the Cabinet of Ministers by Oliy Majlis.

“Reform means renovation and change. In order to succeed in reforms, first of all, people trusted with authority must change. If they do, then the society will change,” the president said.

In order to achieve this goal, he emphasized the need to create a critical analysis of all managers and members of the national parliament on the basis of strict disciplinary and personal responsibility. It was pointed out that future ministers should feel responsible towards the parliament and prove their fitness to the post.

“The parliament now approves the Prime Minister. However, it does not participate in the ministerial appointment. Therefore, members of the government are not sufficiently responsive towards the parliament. Hence, I propose to introduce the practice of approval of the members of the Cabinet of Ministers by Oliy Majlis.

Let the future minister defend his industrial development agenda and justify the ways of achievement in front of the parliamentarians. In short, let him prove his worthiness. Then I will give my consent to appoint him to the post,” the president said.

Additionally, a regional governor is approved first by the members of the council before being approved by the president.

“At the same time, approval of the heads of regional and district offices of local councils will be the same. Deputies of the council should approve the heads of districts, cities and regions,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted.
