Abdulaziz Kamilov receives Kazakhstani FM

On January 12, 2019 in the city of Samarkand, Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, within the framework of the first ministerial meeting of the India-Central Asia Dialogue with the participation of Afghanistan, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov, the MFA said.

Welcoming the guest, Abdulaziz Kamilov congratulated Beibut Atamkulov on his appointment to the high and responsible post of Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan and wished him every success.

During the conversation, the ministers noted that the past meetings of the presidents of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in Astana, Samarkand and Saryagash, gave new dynamics to the multi-faceted Uzbek-Kazakh relations. The regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Commissions, the Business Councils, the first forum of interregional cooperation and other important joint events held in 2018 allowed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in practical terms.

It was noted that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have significant potential for expanding collaboration, primarily in the trade, economic, investment, transport and communication fields. This is evidenced by the fact that over the 11 months of last year, the volume of mutual trade grew by 38% and exceeded $2.6 billion.

During the talks, the preparation for the upcoming Consultative Meeting in Tashkent between the Heads of State of Central Asian countries was considered.

The sides also exchanged views on bilateral and regional issues related to ensuring stability and sustainable development in the region, the prospects for further deepening cooperation in the field of tourism and others.

The ministers noted with satisfaction the successful results of the “Year of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan” and exchanged views on the preparations for the “Year of Kazakhstan in Uzbekistan” in 2019.
