Data on the number of Uzbek population as of January 1 is presented
The number of permanent residents of the Republic of Uzbekistan amounted to 33254,1 thousand people as of 1 January 2019. It increased by 597,4 thousand persons (+1,8%) compared to the same period last year, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan reported.
In particular, the urban population was 16805,0 thousand people (50,5% of the total population), the rural population – 16449,1 thousand people (49.5%).
In January-December 2018, the number of population increased by 597,4 thousand people. The number of births was 768,3 thousand and deaths - 154,7 thousand people. The civil registry offices recorded 311,400 marriages and 32,300 divorces.
It should be noted that the population density throughout the Republic of Uzbekistan amounts to 74,1 people per 1 sq. km., the highest population density is in in the regions Andijan (713,2 people per 1 sq. km.), Ferghana (544,8 people), Namangan (370,0 person), on the contrary, the index is so low in Navoi province (8,8 people) and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (11,2 people).
According to the preliminary data, as of January 1, 2019, 30,3% of the Republic’s total population is young people, 59,5% – adults and 10,2% – senior citizens.
