Kazakh deputy proposes changing the name of the country
A deputy of the Kazakh parliament Azat Peruashev suggested calling Kazakhstan a Kazakh republic.
“We need to call things by their names, black - black, white - white, and Kazakhs - Kazakhs. The return of the original name “Kazakh” to the republic, which even the totalitarian regime recognized, would not only restore historical justice, but also give a tremendous impetus to the unity and friendship of our compatriots living all over the world,” the deputy said.
He suggests using the new name in parallel with the familiar “Kazakhstan”.
The deputy reminded that several years ago President Nursultan Nazarbayev had a similar initiative.
