Sodik Safoyev comments on major “reshuffles” in the Uzbek government
First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Oliy Majlis Sodik Safoyev commented on the radical changes in the government that occurred on January 28, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
It should be recalled that in connection with the transfer to another job, two Deputy Prime Ministers – Nodir Otajonov and Sukhrob Kholmurodov resigned from their posts. Elyor Ganiyev was appointed a new Deputy Prime Minister on the issues of investment and foreign economic relations. There were also changes in a number of ministries.
“This commitment of the leadership increases the efficiency of work to attract foreign investment, to give a new impetus to this process. I think that in the near future, we will see further continuation of the reorganization of the government structure, its optimization,” Mr. Safoyev said at a briefing.
According to him, these changes are taking place within the framework of the concept of improving administrative management. It is designed to maximally modernize the management system in Uzbekistan, mainly, in the sphere of expanding foreign economic relations and attracting foreign investment.
It should be noted that the President of Uzbekistan criticized effectiveness of the government in his address to Oliy Majlis in December last year.
At the same time, he instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to develop and implement, by the end of March, a comprehensive program of measures to optimize and improve the activities of ministries and departments within the government structure, increase the effectiveness of activities and strengthen the personal responsibilities of leading personnel.
