WCO Secretary-General to visit Uzbekistan
Secretary-General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), Kunio Mikuriya will visit Uzbekistan on March 5-7, the press service of the Foreign Ministry said.
Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belgium Dilyor Khakimov met with Alan Harrison, the executive director of the office of WCO Secretary General, on Feb 25 and discussed the agenda of the meeting.
The sides agreed on practical assistance of the organization in improving the institutional capacity of the customs services of Uzbekistan in security of supply, protection of intellectual property and law enforcement.
According to the statement, WCO plans to hold workshops for representatives of the customs service of the country in such areas as “Control of passengers and baggage at the airport” and “Methods for evaluating the effectiveness of customs control”, as well as a number of other special joint projects and events aimed at supporting the ongoing reforms in the country in 2019.
