This event was the next step in the practical implementation of the agreements reached during the meeting of the leadership of the republic with the WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya during his visit to Uzbekistan in November 2021, as well as the implementation of the relevant points of the Roadmap to deepen cooperation between Uzbekistan and the World Customs Organization for 2022-2023 years.

The Career Development Program was launched in 2009 and is funded by the Japan Customs Service. It is calculated
for the period from September 15, 2022 to July 15, 2023.

The program is aimed at providing an opportunity for representatives of developing member countries to undergo a long-term internship in the WCO Secretariat as a professional employee to gain knowledge, skills and international work experience, develop and strengthen ties between WCO members and the Secretariat of the organization, as well as the formation of a pool of highly qualified experts/managers with international experience in the customs field.

As part of the program, a representative of the customs service of Uzbekistan over the next 10 months has the opportunity to receive the most up-to-date knowledge and gain professional experience at the WCO headquarters in this area.

The program also provides for a trip to Japan as a donor country to conduct research on a topic chosen by the participant.

After successful completion of the program, participants return to their country to continue their professional activities in the customs authorities.

Of course, the program will be useful not only for the participant himself in terms of professional development, but also, in general, for building up the human resources potential of the customs administration of his country.
