THE, Elsevier to help improve the competitiveness of universities in Uzbekistan
On February 27, the leadership of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, regional director of Times Higher Education (THE) Yegor Yablokov and regional director of Elsevier Aliya Ospanova signed a cooperation agreement.
At the same time, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education and the world-famous scientific publishing house Elsevier signed an agreement on the use of the information-analytical platform SciVal, which will allow the leading higher educational institutions of the republic to conduct in-depth analysis of scientific-metric information, tracking the progress of organizations in the field of scientific research effectiveness which is one of the key components in many global university rankings.

In accordance with the signed agreement on cooperation, the Uzbek Ministry and THE will work together to improve competitiveness of universities in Uzbekistan, try to join the best universities – regardless of departmental affiliation – of the world's leading scientific-educational centers, then the most authoritative world rankings of universities.

Within the framework of the agreement, the ministry will form a working group of rectors and vice-rectors of the best universities in the republic, with whom THE experts will work. Representatives of these universities will have access to unique data, analytics and will receive support from THE in developing their institutional strategies and determining development priorities. The agreement also serves as an active cooperation with leading foreign scientific-educational centers.
