Thermal power plant to be built in Surkhandarya region jointly with a Turkish company 

On March 20, the Head of Terms Agreement was signed with the Turkish company Yildirim Enerji Holding A.Ş at the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan. 

According to the ministerial press service, the agreement was inked by the First Deputy Energy Minister of Uzbekistan Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov and Executive Director of Yildirim Enerji Holding A.Ş Mustafa Kurnaz. 

The aim of the partnership project is the construction of a combined-cycle thermal power plant in Uzbekistan. 

This meeting was preceded by a working visit of the delegation of Yildirim Enerji Holding A.Ş from 4 to 12 March, during which negotiations were held with the participation of representatives from the Ministries of Finance, Investment and Foreign Trade and other relevant state institutions. 

In accordance with the agreement, a project for the construction of a combined-cycle thermal power plant with a capacity of 900 MW running on natural gas will be implemented in the Surkhandarya region. 

The company Yildirim Enerji Holding A.Ş has joint investment projects with more than 50 companies in Turkey and foreign countries, including the USA, Spain, Russia and others. The main projects implemented by the company include such spheres as energy, logistics, mining and fertilizer production. In particular, in the production of chromium, Yildirim Enerji Holding A.Ş is among the top three world leaders. The company plans to launch a coal power plant with a capacity of 2500 MW in Turkey. It has mining enterprises in Turkey, Kazakhstan and Russia. 

In Uzbekistan, the company mainly invests in the energy and chemical industries.
