President instructs to work out a plan to double flow of foreign tourists to Bukhara by 2021
It is planned to double the flow of foreign tourists to Bukhara region by 2021 and to increase revenues from the provision of tourist services to $350 million, the press service of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The president, at a meeting with the participation of the region’s activists and responsible managers, raised this issue and identified the relevant tasks. He noted the need to build modern hotels, improve the tourist infrastructure.
Mirziyoyev pointed out the need to turn Bukhara into a “tourist crossroads” by increasing the number of flights, frequency of trains and buses running between Bukhara and Samarkand, Khiva and Shakhrisabz.
It is planned that in 2019 in Bukhara the hotels Bukhoro Palace, Varakhsha and Zarafshon will be reconstructed, 32 new hotels, 9 motels and 50 guest houses will be commissioned. As a result, the number of accommodation sites will reach 7,000, and the capacity to receive tourists will double.
Work is also being carried out to repair the 122-kilometer Gijduvan-Kagan road, to establish the movement of modern and comfortable transport between the mausoleums of “Yetti Pir”, and to widely introduce the international standard Halal.
At the same time, the president gave instructions for the construction of a museum representing the history of Bukhara, entertainment facilities, handicraft centers and the organization of pedestrian zones in the old part of the city.
