From April 16-23, President of South Korea Moon Jae-in will visit three countries in Central Asia, Cheong Wa Dae said on April 8.
In a news briefing at Chunchugwan Press Center, Cheong Wa Dae Vice Spokesperson Ko Min-jung said President Moon will visit Turkmenistan from April 16-18 for summit talks with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedow on raising bilateral cooperation.
The second leg of President Moon’s Central Asian tour will take him to Uzbekistan from April 18-21. Here, he and the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will discuss upgrading the strategic partnership relations of the two nations and measures to bolster bilateral cooperation in “a future-looking manner.”
President Moon will then be in Kazakhstan from April 21-23 to meet new Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who took office last month. Both leaders will discuss trust building between their two governments and measures to boost bilateral cooperation.
“The upcoming presidential visits are expected to strengthen Korea’s traditionally cooperative relations with the three Central Asian neighbors, promote consensus of (President Moon’s) New Northern Policy within the Central Asian region and reinforce the foundation of future cooperation with them,” Ko Min-jung said.
