US State Department sponsors training the Uzbek police on combating terrorism
13 personnel from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan attended a two-week anti-terrorism training session organized by the US State Department, the press service of the US Embassy in Tashkent reported.
The session is designed for policemen and other law enforcement officers to develop investigative skills and approaches to countering terrorists and terrorist groups.
Chargé d'Affaires Alan Meltzer attended the ceremony and presented a certificate of appreciation to all participants.
“The United States highly appreciates the increasingly important role of Uzbekistan in maintaining regional stability, safety and security. We seek to expand our cooperation with Uzbekistan to counter transnational security threats, including terrorism, to ensure a safe and prosperous future for both countries,” he said.
Upon completion of the training, participants gained new knowledge in identifying potential sources of information, using surveillance, understanding methods of financing terrorist groups and organized crime groups, investigating terrorist events, interviewing suspects and witnesses and developing a system for tracking, including analyzing information in the pursuit of terrorists and criminals.
