Uzbekistan responds to OSCE statement on blocked mass media
Komil Allamjonov, the head of the Agency for Information and Mass Communications under the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan, officially responded to the statement of Harlem Desir, OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media.
“Within the framework of reforms under the aegis of the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on democratization of the society, increasing the role of the media in the country and promoting transparency, the Agency for Information and Mass Communications under the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan has been implementing systemic measures to establish legal framework for promoting freedom of speech and information, development of mass media and civil journalism, enhancing the reputation of journalists and transparency of state bodies.
The agency reviewed Harlem Desir's statement, OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media. Also, it will carefully study the facts on issues of accession to some of the web resources.
The agency is always ready to engage in a dialogue with the OSCE's media freedom representative and implement projects in the field of information,” Komil Allamjonov stated officially.
Earlier, OSCE called on Uzbekistan to stop blocking some media outlets.
