Deputy PM Elyor Ganiyev meets his Kyrgyz counterpart Jenish Razakov to discuss border issues
On April 20, 2019, a meeting of Government delegations of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Prime Minister Elyor Ganiyev and his Kyrgyz counterpart Jenish Razakov was held in Fergana, the press service of the MFA reported.
During the meeting, issues related to checkpoints at the Uzbek-Kyrgyz State border, included in the Intergovernmental Agreement of July 24, 2004, and intersection points that are not included in the agreement were discussed.
Following the talks, a Protocol was signed, which fixed an agreement on holding the next meeting of the working groups on delimitation and demarcation of the interstate border in the near future in Kyrgyzstan, as well as continuing to comply with the draft Protocol on changes and additions to the existing Agreement on the checkpoints across the State Border.
The meeting was attended by the leaders of the border regions of the two countries - Andijan, Namangan, Fergana regions of Uzbekistan and Batken, Jalal-Abad, Osh regions of Kyrgyzstan.
