Shavkat Mirziyoyev visits Suzuk-ota complex

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Suzuk-ota complex in Tashkent on May 10, the presidential press service reports.

Until recently, the place of pilgrimage Suzuk-ota, the existence of which few knew, as well as the old mosque were in poor condition. Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Suzuk-ota complex on May 26, 2017. Then the head of state gave instructions for the reconstruction of the mausoleum and the mosque, the improvement of the adjacent territory. And on February 9, 2018, the President got acquainted with the progress of work and noted the need to build housing for artisans next to the complex.

These initiatives today have found their practical implementation. The mausoleum and the mosque were renovated, an area of almost 8 hectares was landscaped. One of the buildings of the complex houses a museum, a library, a gathering of citizens of makhallas and other institutions. On both sides of the complex 30 cottages were built for artisans.

Today, the President got acquainted with the results of the work done. Surahs from the holy Koran were recited, congratulated them on the beginning of the month of Ramadan and noted that the opening of the renovated complex on these blessed days is a good sign.

“Other nations seek to write a history that actually did not exist. And we cannot fully represent our great past, the legacy of our ancestors to our people, youth. Paying attention to such places, we encourage everyone to become aware of their identity, their history,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted.

As known, Suzuk-ota was a master of woodcarving. Therefore, the construction of a handicraft town around its mausoleum has a deep symbolic meaning. On the first floor of two-storey cottages workshops and antique shops will be created. They, in combination with the complex, will turn into a tourist center.

The President examined these houses, visited woodcarving and calligraphy workshops.

“Today, the biggest challenge we are facing is availability of new job places. We will create conditions for artisans, and they will support themselves, will give work to others. They will train apprentices, many young people will master the craft, establish their own business, make income,” the head of state summed up.
