Uzatom, Rosatom sign contract to carry out engineering surveys at NPP construction site

On May 17, in Tashkent, within the framework of the International Exhibition “Power Uzbekistan 2019”, a contract was signed to carry out engineering surveys at the Nuclear Power Plant construction site for the development of the NPP technical design.

The documents were inked by Otabek Amanov, Head of the Nuclear Power Plant Directorate of the Agency Uzatom, and Dmitry Ashanin, Deputy Director for Perspective Projects of Atomstroyexport JSC (part of the engineering division of Rosatom State Corporation).

“This document is one of the key ones in the framework of the NPP construction project in Uzbekistan and will allow to start survey work on the construction site of the future station,” Amanov said.

“The signing of this contract is another step in the implementation of a large-scale project for the construction of the most modern and safe nuclear power plants with VVER-1200 reactors in Uzbekistan,” Ashanin noted in turn.

The intergovernmental agreement on the construction of nuclear power plants under the Russian project was signed on September 7, 2018 by the Prime Ministers of Uzbekistan and Russia. The start for the construction works was given by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Vladimir Putin on October 19, 2018.
