“GM Uzbekistan has manufactured over two million cars without DRL” – Uzavtosanoat

GM Uzbekistan cars designed for the domestic market are not equipped with daytime running lights (DRL), which are necessary for driving with the headlights on during daylight hours. This was stated by a representative of the JSC Uzavtosanoat Shavkatbek Alimov during the TV program “Munosabat” (“Attitude”).

He also added that installation of the DRL was not envisaged in the technical regulation approved by the government of the republic in April 2017. Alimov also noted that GM Uzbekistan has produced over two million cars without DRL.

At present, drivers are forced to use other elements instead of daytime running lights, for example fog lights – not intended for prolonged use in on mode. The representative of Uzavtosanoat also urged the owners of domestic cars not to alter the electrical wiring on their own, but to contact relevant specialists on this matter.

During the telecast, it became known that GM Uzbekistan had already begun the work on changing the design of machines for the DRL integration.

It should be recalled that during the above-mentioned TV program, the Legislative Chamber deputies of Oliy Majlis Rasul Kusherbayev and Abdurashid Abdukadirov also expressed their opinions on switching-on headlights in the daytime.

Earlier, it was reported that from May 10 onwards, drivers moving without switching-on dipped headlights during the daytime would be imposed a fine in the amount of 50% of the MMW.
