The state will reimburse 50% of the costs of local manufacturers who register pharmaceutical products abroad.

As the director of the Agency for pharmaceutical industry development Sardor Kariyev said at a press conference on Friday, July 12, a company must invest about $300-500 thousand to get the right to enter the new market.

“For example, in order to bring products to the Kazakhstani market, one will have to pay $10,000 for each medicine. In addition, the Kazakh Pharmaceutical Inspectorate should visit production site in Uzbekistan to make sure that quality complies with set requirements. Many countries need to go through such a process. This makes it difficult for newly established local enterprises to discover new markets,” the head of the agency noted.

In his opinion, in order to enter the market of another country, a company must register at least 15-20 medical products, and invest several hundred thousand dollars.

To cover half of the expenses of local companies spent on registering drugs at foreign markets, part of the ADPI (Agency for Development of Pharmaceutical Industry) funds will be directed.

“In 2017, local companies registered 294 medicines abroad, in 2019, this figure rose up to 539. The introduction of a new mechanism will increase this figure by 2-3 times,” Sardor Kariyev said.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, in the first five months of this year, goods worth $10.4 million were exported. Compared to the same period in 2018, exports increased by 124%.
