Representatives of Uzmetkombinat and the Afghan authorities are discussing the possibility of expanding supplies of the company's products to the market of Afghanistan.
Relevant negotiations were held during the recent national trade fair “Made in Uzbekistan” in Mazar-i-Sharif, the press service of the company reports.
“Today, Uzmetkombinat has export contracts with Afghanistan for the supply of rolled ferrous metals. More specifically, these are six contracts for $98 million. To increase the volume of export deliveries, we demonstrated the best samples of our products at the exhibition - metal, grinding balls, cold-drawn wire, basalt-based insulation boards, chain-link mesh, nails, electrodes and other products,” head of the company's marketing department Erkin Ibragimov said.
According to him, many new products presented at the exhibition aroused serious interest among Afghan entrepreneurs. In particular, great interest was shown in consumer goods, especially in steel enamelware. Also, local artisans expressed a desire to purchase brass tape for minting souvenirs.
“No new agreements on the supply of our products have yet been concluded. But the Afghan business community received complete information about them, the price level, and took a time to study all the issues in detail. Then they intend to purchase a test batch of our products in order to make sure that they are in demand in their local market, and only after that contracts will be concluded,” Ibragimov noted.
