US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale plans to visit Uzbekistan

Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, who is on a working visit in the United States of America, held talks at the State Department with Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale and Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells, the MFA press service said.

At the meeting, an exchange of views on the current state of Uzbek-American relations and prospects for their development took place.

The parties voiced mutual interest in ensuring the full implementation of the provisions of the Joint Political Statement “Uzbekistan-USA: the beginning of a new era of strategic partnership”, adopted following Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s first official visit to the USA and talks with President Donald Trump in the White House in May 2018.

In particular, David Hale noted the strengthening of partnership with Uzbekistan and expressed readiness to continue the emerging constructive trend to further accelerate comprehensive relations.

The importance of a dynamic build-up of inclusive contacts between Uzbekistan and the United States at various levels was emphasized. In this regard, the Under Secretary of State announced plans to visit Uzbekistan in the near future.

Alice Wells, assessing the prospects for bilateral relations, noted the dynamic growth of contacts in various spheres. In particular, the first in the last 15 years visit of the Defense Minister of Uzbekistan to the USA in July of the current year, was emphasized.
