Uzbekistan, Turkey sign 62 deals for $455 million in Ankara
Ankara hosted the fifth meeting of the Uzbek-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation and the Uzbekistan-Turkey Business Forum, the press service of the MFA reported.
The delegation of Uzbekistan was led by Deputy Prime Minister Elyor Ganiyev and the delegation of Turkey was headed by Vice-President Fuat Oktay. The event was attended by members of the two governments, representatives of more than 450 Turkish companies, heads of ministries and departments.
Speaking at the forum, Elyor Ganiyev stated that Uzbekistan sees Turkey as an important trade and economic partner. According to him, the country set attracting direct investments and high-technology as a priority and is trying to boost its exports.

Fuat Oktay stressed that both sides need to exert more efforts to elevate the bilateral trade to $5 billion in the near future, as it was instructed by the Presidents of the both countries.
As part of the business forum, cooperation agreements were signed between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan (CCIU) and the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK), between the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan and the GEBZE Organized Industrial Zone of Istanbul, as well as a Memorandum of cooperation between Uzbekistan Railways and the Turkish Railways Administration.

The parties inked 62 documents worth total of $455 million.
The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled to be held in Tashkent in 2020.
