Uzbekistan to cooperate with Belarus in environmental protection
On August 1, Uzbekistan and Belarus will sign an agreement on cooperation in environmental protection, BelTa reports with reference to the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.
The document was discussed during a meeting between Belarusian Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Andrei Khudyk and Chairman of the Uzbekistan State Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection Bakhrom Kuchkarov.
The main objective of the agreement is to expand and develop cooperation between the appropriate agencies of Uzbekistan and Belarus to address environmental challenges at the national, regional and global levels.
This document envisages the development of cooperation across many areas. Among them is the improvement of state control and supervision in environmental protection and environmental management, biodiversity conservation, including conservation of rare and endangered species of animals and plants, development of the system of specially protected natural territories, adapting to climate change, development of alternative sources of energy, and integrated waste management.
Andrei Khudyk and Bakhrom Kuchkarov exchanged information on the state policy in the field of environmental protection and agreed to establish cooperation in eco-labelling and eco-certification.
