Shavkat Mirziyoyev: Khokims damage Uzbekistan’s reputation 

On August 2, a video-conference meeting was held under the chairmanship of the president to discuss the analysis of ongoing work on the development of small business and entrepreneurship.

During the event, the head of state expressed his opinion on the activities of khokims.

“Taking into consideration all the circumstances, the Prime Minister should study the work of four sectors in Fergana, Khorezm and Kashkadarya regions, submit me a proposal on their duties and responsibilities. Four sectors do not work at all. Besides, they do not feel responsible for their actions. I always reiterate that it is indeed important to put interests of people above anything else. However, khokims cause dissatisfaction,” he said.

The President also stated that khokims damage the reputation of Uzbekistan in the world arena.

“I work with such unscrupulous people as Ermanov, Ganiyev and Ruziyev. They disgrace our country before the eyes of the international community. Over the past 2.5 years, we have allocated a lot of money to entrepreneurs. Such amounts were not allotted in the previous 30 years. This should have a positive effect on people's mood and economic growth. However, 60% of loans still do not have a positive effect. Mr. Kuchkarov, this is your fault,” Mirziyoyev said.

The head of state instructed the Prime Minister and the head of the presidential administration to review personnel issues in the above regions.

“You should prepare a proposal for me to dismiss the khokims of the regions,” the President said.

Mirziyoyev also noted that in Uzbekistan it is necessary to renounce political violence.

“I repeat once again, we will not go far with political violence. If such a policy was really prolific, then we would have been a powerful state by now,” he concluded.
