Foreign Ministry appeals to people visiting Turkey

Taking into account the problems recently encountered by a number of Uzbek citizens with the payment of fines prior to departing from Turkey at the Istanbul airport, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan asks people to adhere to the rules established in this country.

In October 2018, the Turkish government decided to allow citizens of Uzbekistan to stay in the country without a visa for 90 days.

According to the decision, citizens, who have been in the country for more than 90 days and have violated the current rules (vize ihlali), must pay a fine when leaving Turkey.

Determination of the amount and payment of fines is made only after citizens have checked in for the flight and received boarding passes.

“Please take into account that currently only two windows are functioning in the new Istanbul airport where you can determine the amount of fines and pay,” the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

It is noted that in order to resolve potential problems, the Consulate General held talks with the representative office of Uzbekistan Airways in Istanbul. It was agreed that citizens of our country, who have been in Turkey for more than 90 days and who wish to return to their homeland without delay, can arrive at Istanbul airport in advance, get registered and pay fines and fees.

For night time flights, passengers can check in during the first half of the day (during the morning flight check-in), which will allow timely payment of fines and fees during the day.
