Mirziyoyev may visit Center-2019 military exercises together with Putin
The strategic command and staff exercises Center-2019 of the Russian Armed Forces will be held from September 16 to 21.
As previously reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense, military contingents from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will also be involved in the maneuvers.
Spokesman for Russian President Dmitry Peskov told Sputnik that Vladimir Putin could attend the exercises with one of the leaders of these states. Among them is the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
“It cannot be ruled out,” said Dmitry Peskov, answering the corresponding question.
Center-2019 exercises will be held at 8 training grounds in Russia and in other countries.
The participation of the Uzbek military in the Center-2019 exercises will serve to further develop international military cooperation and strengthen the military community with neighboring fraternal states, exchange experience in combat training, develop a unified algorithm for the work of command and control agencies and procedures for units to conduct joint operations to prevent destabilizing the situation in the Central Asian region.
