Commission on protecting rights of labor migrants created in Uzbekistan
A Republican Commission on external migration has been established in Uzbekistan. The corresponding presidential decree was published on the Lex.uz website.
According to the document, it will be headed by Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov.
The primary task of the new institution is to coordinate the activities of state bodies on organized labor migration, effective protection of the rights and interests of labor migrants and provision of material and social support to them.
It is also planned to cooperate with authorized bodies of foreign countries on issues of external labor migration. Together, the departments will consider and prepare proposals for Uzbekistan to join international treaties in the field of protecting the rights and interests of labor migrants, the decree says.
