Mirziyoyev: Attracting teachers to cotton harvest and landscaping activities ruined their reputation
Yesterday, August 23, under the chairmanship of the president, a video-conference meeting was held on development of the public education system, advanced training of teachers and strengthening their role in society.
During the event, Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered a speech and told how the reputation of teachers was ruined in Uzbekistan.
“Unfortunately, for 30 years no one paid special attention to school education. What happened as a result? We destroyed schools and lost teachers. Children have no interest and desire to study. The worst thing is that the schools lost a spiritual-educational atmosphere,” the head of state said.
He noted that no one thought about the financial situation of teachers and working conditions.
“By attracting teachers to cotton harvest and landscaping activities, we ruined their reputation. Many of the programs that were adopted with a view to developing school education were not implemented at the proper level,” Mirziyoyev said.
