Agency for External Labor Migration publicizes data on number of labor migrants
On August 30, 2019, the Ministry of Justice organized a briefing and press conference on the topic “News in the legislation”.
According to the Ministry, a press conference was held with participation of specialists to discuss the presidential decree “On measures to further strengthen the guarantees of protecting citizens of Uzbekistan and their family members engaged in temporary work abroad”, signed on August 20, 2019 and the government resolution “On additional measures to protect the rights and lawful interests of citizens of Uzbekistan engaged in temporary work abroad”, adopted on August 23, 2019.
An executive employee of the Agency for External Labor Migration Azim Akhmatov said at the press conference that the number of migrant workers is now around 2.6 - 3 million.
He also stated that there is high demand for welding workers in Russia and welding specialists are paid high wages. In particular, it was noted that they can earn minimum of 1,700 rubles a day.
