Currently, the Russian Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko is in Uzbekistan on an official visit. On October 2, the high-ranking guest met with the Senate Speaker Tanzila Narbayeva.
The official visit began with laying flowers at the Monument of Independence. After that, negotiations began between the parties.
During the meeting, Tanzila Narbayeva informed representatives of the Federation Council and the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly about the parliamentary elections that will be held on December 22.
Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Institute for Legislative Problems and Parliamentary Studies under the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the Analytical and Legal Department of the Federal Assembly of Russia.
At the end of the Senate meeting, Tanzila Narbayeva and Valentina Matviyenko met with the mass media representatives.
“Last year the forum was held for the first time during the visit of the Russian President Vladimir Putin. We are seriously preparing for the visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Russia in February next year. During the visit, holding the second forum is planned. In addition, the first humanitarian forum will be organized within the framework of the visit,” Kun.uz correspondent quotes the Russian diplomat as saying.
